When a defendant faces serious charges, the potential consequences they might endure could change throughout the defense process. During discovery, evidence could be uncovered that could benefit the defendant by reducing or dropping some or all of the charges. Unfortunately, it could lead to additional charges and more serious penalties for the defendant.

A previous blog discussed a man from Dekalb County his recent been accusations for robbing a numerous of dollar stores. However, it appears additional and potentially more serious criminal charges are now being brought against him.

The 23-year-old man from Atlanta is now being accused for not only robbing at least 24 dollar stores, but for also a bank robbery. The alleged bank robbery occurred at a bank on Main Street back on June 21. The man allegedly put a bag on the counter, pulled out a gun and made a demand for money. Once he got the money, he left the bank. It is unknown at this time how much money the suspect left the bank with. A warrant was issued for the man’s arrest on July 5. It also appears that the FBI is involved in this investigation.

When a defendant is facing serious charges, including multiple felonies, it is best to seek out assistance immediately. When the charges include robbery, particularly with a deadly weapon, the defendant could be facing significant prison time in addition to other penalties.

It is important that a defendant devises a defense against the charges and allegations made against them. In doing so, many of the charges could either be thrown out or reduced depending on the nature of the alleged crimes. It is advisable to seek assistance from a qualified professional to ensure that the defendant is knowledgeable about the charges and the potential options they could take. Further, any plea negotiations often require assistance to ensure the best deal for the defendant can be procured voluntarily, knowingly and intelligently.

Dealing with serious charges such as felonies will likely need to be handled with care and expertise. With a strong defense, those charges could be reduced and lower the personal impact and hardship on the defendant.
