For most young people, early teenage years are meant as a time to focus on school and have fun with friends. One young man’s teenage years may now be uncertain after he was arrested in connection with the murder of two men. Georgia police arrested the young boy on multiple counts including drug possession after it was discovered that he had several ounces of marijuana.

Nearby residents apparently heard gun shots coming from a local park and reported the incident to the authorities. When police arrived at the park, they found two men’s bodies who appeared to have been shot to death. That same night, police apprehended and arrested who they believe to be the shooter — a 14-year-old boy.

Police say that the murder was actually a drug deal gone wrong, and that the young boy both robbed and shot the two adults. He was found with several ounces of marijuana on him at the time of his arrest, which escalated the charges filed against him. Felony murder and possession of marijuana are just two of several charges that the young teen now faces.

Although he is still only 14 years old, Georgia authorities have currently decided to pursue the charges against him as an adult. The felony charges that this teenage boy faces for murder and drug possession are substantial, and the consequences if convicted can be hefty and life-changing. It is possible that the judge overseeing his case may take into account his age and possibly other factors that may come to light in the future. As he and his family form a comprehensive defense team to represent the boy, his defense will likely be able to best advise him on the smartest move depending on his charges.
