Criminal defense: Dekalb police seek person of interest

When faced with questions from authority figures, many people in Dekalb County may be unfamiliar with their rights as well as the potential information they may voluntarily provide to police officers. In fact, a woman who is sought as a person of interest following a shooting that may have led to a man’s death may be wondering about her options. Fortunately, there is help available, including seeking advice from an experienced criminal defense attorney.

The incident reportedly happened on a day in late December. The woman sought is said to have been with a man when they become involved in an altercation with the owner of a salon. The cause and other details of that alleged altercation is unclear. Police say that the pair began shooting at the business.

Approximately two miles away from the salon, a 25-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound knocked on a stranger’s door. The homeowner called 911. The man reportedly passed away as a result of his injuries. While police believe that the man was part of the shooting they say happened at the hair salon, they have yet to confirm this.

Dekalb police likely have several questions for the woman for whom they are searching, though it is unclear why police believe she was connected to the incident. Because information given to police officers as part of an investigation can have unintended consequences, many people in a similar situation ask a criminal defense attorney to guide them through questioning and other aspects of an investigation. Such help can ensure that a person suspected of a crime or wanted for questioning is treated lawfully and that proper action can be taken should unlawful treatment occur.
