Most people in Georgia and across the country have a basic understanding that the U.S. Constitution protects them from certain acts by the government. Despite having this knowledge, they may be unable to recognize and appropriately respond to certain unlawful acts. In fact, two people in Georgia may be wondering about their legal options following their recent arrest on drug charges.

The incident involves a man and a woman, reportedly a teacher in a Georgia school system. Their arrest follows the search of a residence conducted by a drug task force operation. It is unclear what prompted the search of the home.

Police say that during the search, they found drugs and a rifle. Drugs allegedly included around 2 pounds of crack and powder cocaine, said to be packaged for resale, as well as more than an ounce of marijuana. The woman and man was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of marijuana and trafficking cocaine. The man faces an additional charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

An experienced criminal defense attorney can examine all elements of a case to determine if unlawful action has occurred at any stage. If it is believed that such action did occur, such a professional knows how to respond. Many people in Georgia facing drug charges experience a great deal of uncertainty about their future. Often, knowing that they have someone on their side can help ease their anxiety as they navigate through the criminal justice system.
